Mother-of-the-Bride ‘dos stay classic, chic

Mother of the bride

When it comes to the mother of the bride, her look should be elegant, youthful, classic, yet not upstage the bride. Stylists from coast to coast chime in on looks that range from face-flattering short cuts and tight chignons to worlds of curls worn loose or in a variety of buns.

A Personal Touch

Hello ROD Family,

Its been a while since our last post to our Blog, as we’ve been extremely busy this 2010 wedding season.  Inspired by recent customer stories, I wanted to take a moment to share with you the above and beyond personal service we strive to offer to each of our customers every day.

Just a few short weeks ago, in the time leading up to Memorial Weekend, a busy NYC couple planning a Memorial Weekend wedding contacted us to request help in finding personalized bridal party gifts and custom wedding ceremony accessories.  Did I mention the wedding was only a short two weeks away?

bride and groom

Saving the couple precious time, we quickly put together a hand-picked selection of gifts and accessories for them to choose from – monogrammed cuff links for the groomsmen, an elegant greeting card chest for guests to wish them well, exquisite crystal purse hooks to thank the bridesmaids in style, and more.  In just 5 days, they had everything they needed to pull together their vision for an unforgettable dream wedding!

I always recommend to prospective clients that they select their favors, bridal party gifts or other accessories for their wedding ceremony or reception well in advance of when they might need it, to ensure that their first choice doesn’t sell out before their special day.  However, in the event that time just gets away from you and you need stylish, elegant gifts in a hurry, don’t hesitate to contact us at info@rememberourdayfavors.com with your special request.

Wishing you all the best,

J.A.S.

For Brides Turned Off by Big Bridal Expos

New York, New York, March 22, 2010Remember Our Day Inc., a trailblazer in the wedding favors, bridal accessories  and special occasion gift industry, and the historical 3 West Club, one of New York City’s best private clubs, located across from Rockefeller Center, will host an exclusive bridal showcase on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 6 p.m.  The bridal showcase that the two organizations are hosting is unlike most typical big bridal expos.

Among many of the treats awaiting the small group of invited brides, grooms, wedding and event planners, and other bridal party guests, will be the great food prepared by the 3 West Club’s renowned executive chef, Gary Eisenberg, tours of the beautiful nine-story building’s ballroom and event spaces, and access to some of the leading wedding and event professionals in the industry.  The carefully planned bridal showcase will make it easy for couples and event planners to find many of the key professionals they will need to create the beautiful wedding they envision, in an intimate setting not crowded with rows and rows of vendors and long lines.

Participating partners include a wedding photographer, invitation designers, videographer, florist, hair & makeup, music, and much more.

Remember Our Day, an innovative retailer of stylish, elegant wedding favors, bridal shower favors, bridal party gifts, and other wedding accessories, is excited to offer its clients an opportunity to meet many of the Preferred Partners it recommends in its online bridal boutique.  “The partnership with the 3 West Club is a great fit with our company’s core values and the high quality we expect for our clients,” says Founder & CEO, Jewell Staley.

The 3 West Club is a fine catering establishment located near the fabled Fifth Avenue, in the heart of New York City, and is the perfect elegant venue to host a wedding or special event.  The Club’s Catering Manager, Kristina Garritano, takes great care with each of her bridal clients to help them create a day that is unlike any other, and enjoys being a resource to help them find other quality wedding and event professionals.

Showcasing at Crate & Barrel’s Wedding Party Event

Hello ROD Family,

There have been so many exciting developments at Remember Our Day in the past few weeks, it’s hard to know where to begin!

Last week Wednesday, I had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful team at David Reinhard Events.  If you aren’t familiar with their work, partners Ann David and Nicky Reinhard create some of the most fabulous weddings and have been featured in all of the major bridal magazines.  They only book up to two weddings a month, in order to give the best service to their clients, but I’m told their schedule may have some room this coming Fall 2010.

On Friday, I met with famed wedding and event planner, Loulie Walker, of Loulie Walker Events LLC, and we had so much fun talking about all kinds of unique ideas for favors and accessories.  Loulie’s style is incomparable and it shows in the flawless events she creates for her clients.  A true testament to the quality of her service is the number of clients who have continued to use her over the years for repeat special occasions.  I’m certainly looking forward to working with Loulie to continue providing the high level of service and quality that we each expect for our clients.

After the meeting with Loulie I stopped in at Crate & Barrel on 59th & Madison Avenue.  Remember Our Day Inc. is partnering with Crate & Barrel and their Wedding Party event to bring couples access to our collection of stylish wedding favors, bridal party gifts, and other ceremony and reception accessories.  We had so much fun at last Sunday’s party, that we will be showcasing our collection again on Sunday, February 28th from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.  It’s a fantastic private registry event, where you can expect to get treated like royalty for a day!  RSVP to (212) 308-0011.

Below are some of last weekend’s favorites at the Wedding Party.  Let me know what you think.

Choosing Your Wedding Photographer

By Christopher Duggan of Threshold Visions Photography

http://thresholdvisions.com

Choosing A Wedding Photographer

Choosing the right photographer is perhaps the most important decision you will make in your wedding planning.  After the cake’s been eaten and the dancing has stopped, your photographs will tell the story of your wedding day again and again for generations to come.  They become a treasured piece of your family’s history and are truly the only investment you make in your wedding planning that will continue to increase in value as the years go by.

So how do you know you are choosing the right person to do the job?  Chances are you’ve never even hired a professional photographer before, let alone for such an important, never to be repeated event!

There are many things to consider in your decision-making.  Here are the two major pieces to consider:

First of all, you have to be inspired by the photographer’s work.  When looking at an artist’s portfolio, ask yourself:  do these photographs make me feel something?  If the answer is no, move on.  But if the answer is yes, ask yourself, “Why?”  What is it about the images that you connect with?  Is it the color, the mood, the use of environment, the smile on people’s faces?  Does this photographer seem to pose every shot?  Or is there a fluidity and naturalness to the look of the people in the pictures?  Which is your preference?

The photographer’s style has to be an extension of your own style.  You have to feel great about the way you can envision this photographer capturing you.  These photographs will last forever.  You want to be sure that the quality of the images is really what you want.  Even if you don’t think you know what you want, check your gut to see what you feel when you are looking at the photographer’s work.   You should be smiling from ear to ear just thinking about it.

Second is the photographer’s personality and presence.  When I am photographing a wedding, I am right up close to the bride and groom all day long.  I’m interacting with them, their families and friends during their most intimate moments.  I’m there as the bride is getting ready, and “behind the scenes” for every little special moment that takes place all day.

Picture yourself sharing your wedding day with the photographer you are meeting with.  Is this the type of person that will be respectful, blend in and add to the experience you want to create for yourself and your guests?

After the wedding you should remember the way your photographer made you feel:  taken care of, supported, made-things-easier, went with the flow, took control at the right moments, but didn’t push.  Remember, it’s your wedding day, not your photographer’s photo shoot.  That should always be first on their mind.

Ultimately your photographer will create two important things for you: fantastic photographs and the best experience for you and your guests.  This is the important and very delicate mix on your wedding day.

Personality and product are the key factors among several essentials that need to be considered before making your important wedding photography choice.  To hear a candid conversation I had with an expert wedding planner about the “5 Essentials You Need to Know”, please visit http://blog.thresholdvisions.com where you can download the audio interview for free.

Best wishes for ease and flow in your wedding planning.
